What Are the Different Types of Codes and How Do They Work?

VIN Numbers

The 17 digits of a VIN code are a mixture of numbers and letters that can be decoded to reveal vital information regarding your vehicle or truck.

Modern automobiles are digital libraries that hold a wealth of information about their history and specifications. The key to accessing this information is the VIN number. This lets you discover everything from if your vehicle was subject to recalls, to the many owners it has had.

A VIN number consists of several sections, each with particular information.
